Nancy Jewel Parr, 74, of Piney Flats, went to be with the Lord on Tuesday evening, August 24, 2010, at her sister's home. She was born in Burke County, NC, and had resided in Piney Flats for the last 20 years. She attended Orebank Chapel Central Baptist Church.
Ms. Parr was preceded in death by her parents, Byrl and Bessie Murray, a sister, and six brothers.
She is survived by two daughters, Sabrina Osborne, of Piney Flats, and Lisa Himioben, of Davenport, Iowa; two grandsons, Doug Osborne and Jason Hulse; two great-grandchildren, Devin Hulse and Kaia Skye Hulse; a sister, "Dom" Carson, of Kingsport; a brother, Jim Murray, of Fall Branch; special niece and caregiver, Tina; and several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends on Thursday evening from 4 to 7 p.m. at Hamlett-Dobson Funeral Home, Kingsport. Services will follow at 7:00, with Pastor Lelbert Thornburg officiating.
Graveside services will be conducted on Friday morning at 11:00 a.m. at Bethany Freewill Baptist Church Cemetery in Greene County. Serving as pallbearers will be Jason Hulse, Doug Osborne, John Olsen, Bob Morrell, Chuck Morrell, and Bill Willis.
