Nancy Kate Houser Pope, 82, of Blountville, peacefully met the Lord on Christmas Day, December, 25, 2010. She was a long-time member of Salem United Methodist Church and will be remembered as a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She loved to read the Bible, tend her garden, and feed and watch the birds.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Lee Roy Pope, Sr.; her parents, Elizabeth and Samuel Houser; a grandson; and her brothers and sisters, Ada Crane, Sudie Bright, Ruth Sparks, Fannie Miller, Houston Houser, Charlie Houser, Maude Crawford, and Lelia Bullion.
Surviving her are two daughters, Donna Warf and husband, Nick, of Etowah, TN, and Brenda Fogleman and husband, Keith, of Madison, MS; two sons, Larry Pope and wife, Paula, Pensacola, FL, and Lee Roy Pope, Jr., of Blountville, TN; six grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends on Wednesday from 4 to 7 p.m. at Hamlett-Dobson Funeral Homes, Kingsport.
Services will be conducted on Thursday morning at 11:00 at the funeral home, with Rev. Will Shewey officiating. Interment will follow at East Lawn Memorial Park. Family members and friends will serve as pallbearers.
