Nancy Self

Nancy Palmer Self, 79, 329 Erway Court, Kingsport, TN, was called home by Jesus Monday evening August 13, 2007 at her home following a brief illness.

Nancy was born in Kingsport where she had lived her entire life. She had a friendly smile for everyone. Nancy was faithful to her church being a member of Indian Springs Baptist Church for many years and serving in the nursery, youth group and in the visitation program. She was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother.

Her parents, J. P. Palmer and Nettie L. Baker Palmer, and brother Wesley preceded her in death.

Surviving are her husband, Richard W. Self, of the home; daughter, Adelia Lee Gilliam, Kingsport, TN; son, Richard C. Self and wife Karen, Surfside Beach, SC; six grandchildren, Paul, Chad, Brandon, Ammara, Nikki, and Chelsea; two great-grandchildren, Logan and Isaiah; sister, Frances Lane, Kingsport, TN.

Calling hours are 6-8:00 p.m. Thursday at Hamlett-Dobson Funeral Home Kingsport.

Services will be conducted at 8:00 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home with Dr. Roc Collins and Rev. Don Foster officiating.

Graveside services will be 11:00 a.m. Friday at East Lawn Memorial Park.

Pallbearers will be Chad Self, Brandon Self, Paul Roberts, Mark McCrary, Bryan McCrary, Rudy Palmer, and Josh Frye.

The family would like to send a very special thanks to nurse Mary and also Sandra and home aides, Catrina and special care from Tammy and the entire Adventa Hospice program. The family was so thankful to the Lord for the lack of pain during her illness.
