Nannie Kate Dockery, 69, of Kingsport went to be with our Lord suddenly, Wednesday, November 10, 2010.
She was a very strong, independent, and energetic woman who was always on the go. Nannie was a loving mother, grandmother, and friend who was always very supportive of her family. She enjoyed the holidays, especially Christmas.
Nannie was employed through the years with Tri-City Linen, Kingsport Press, and Mellons Exxon. Her last employment was with Allendale's Early Learning Center, where she was the cook. The children will dearly miss her as all of them told her often "You are the best cook in the world."
Nannie was preceded in death by her parents, Ruby and Robert Dockery; husband, Ronald Hommell, and sister, Helen Taylor.
Survivors include two daughters: Rhonda Hommell Mellons and husband Scott, Gina Hommell Estep and husband Alvin; three granddaughters: Ashley Hommell, Elissa Estep, and Taylor Mellons; one grandson, Andrew Mellons; two nephews: Mark Taylor and Robert Taylor, and her special friends: Cecil , Juanita and Carlene.
The family will receive friends Friday evening, November 12, 2010 at Nannie's residence and also Saturday, November 13, from 12:00-2:00 p.m. at Hamlett-Dobson, Kingsport.
Services are at 2:00 p.m in the funeral home chapel with Rev. Roy Darnell officiating.
Burial will follow at Oak Hill Memorial Park.
Pallbearers will be Pete Vannoy, Chad Darnell, Brad Darnell, Matthew Stout, David Estep and Mark Taylor.
