Nannie Lee Parsons Steffey

Nannie Lee Steffey, 93, of Kingsport, went to be with her heavenly Father, Wednesday, September 25, 2024. Nannie retired from Eastman cafeteria food services after 22 years and serving thousands of meals. She continued cooking and serving delicious food to her church family, and prepared family dinners in her home until 6 months prior to her passing. Tradition has continued through her children and grandchildren every Sunday, as she taught them, making sure all were served before herself.

Preceding her in death are her sisters, Juanita Chapman and Berneice Killen; brother, Claude Parsons; and her parents, George and Sarah Parsons.

Survivors include her daughter, Martha Pendley (Mike); sons, Manuel (Carolyn), Ron (Sue), Randall and Charles Lester Steffey; sisters, Effie Colleen Chapman and Elsie Richmond. Nannie was the beloved “Grannie Nannie” to fifteen grandchildren, twenty-one great-grandchildren and four great-great grandchildren; many nieces, nephews, special friends and church family at Bays Mountain Baptist Church.

The family will receive friends on Monday, September 30, 2024 from 5:00 – 7:00 p.m. at Hamlett-Dobson Funeral Home, Kingsport. Funeral services will be conducted at 7:00 p.m. in the funeral home chapel with Pastor Hartsell McCurry officiating. A eulogy will be given by her son, Manuel Steffey and special music by the Heavenly Reflections.

Graveside services will be held, Tuesday, October 1, 2024 at 11:00 a.m. at East Lawn Memorial Park, with her grandsons serving as pallbearers.
