Naomi Ruth Martin, 76, Limestone, went home to be with the Lord, Wednesday, February 20, 2013, at her residence following a brief illness.
Born in Washington County, TN on August 21, 1936, a daughter of the late, Floyd Jacob Smith and Dollie Jane Bailey Smith Archer. She has resided in this area her entire life.
Ruth was a member of New Hope Brethren Church. She had been employed at Leon Fernbach, but the joy of her life was driving as a bus driver for handicapped children for the Washington County School System.
Ruth will be remembered as a loving and devoted wife, sister, aunt and friend who loved to collect antiques and loved animals.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to her three caregivers, Connie Beach, Lucy Cole and Deloris Jones.
Surviving are her husband of 53 years, Ralph E. Martin; sister, Mary "Mickie" Thomas of Limestone; niece, Amelia Thomas of Limestone; nephews, John Thomas and wife Lisa of Eau Claire, Wisconsin, Lewis Thomas and wife Vicki of Jonesborough; great-nephews, J. C. and wife Crystal, Daniel, and Noah; great-nieces, Rosie and Rebekah; great-great-nephews, Charlie and Alan; great-great-niece, Ava; special friends, Jean Carter an d Shannon Woods; and special cousin, Rose Street.
A graveside service will be conducted at 3:00 p.m. Friday February 22, 2013 in Fairview Cemetery, Jonesborough with Rev. Byrl Fann officiating. Those attending services are asked to assemble at the graveside by 2:45 p.m. Friday.
