Naomi Addison Woods, 89, of Kingsport, died early Monday morning at her residence. Born in Castlewood, VA, Naomi graduated from Temple Hill High School in 1938 and moved to Kingsport in 1939 where she retired from the Sullivan County Board of Education in 1985. Naomi was a member of St. Matthews United Methodist Church and the Order of the Eastern Star.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Cleve and Fannie K. Addison; husband Aldridge Woods; and sisters Pauline Pratt, June Sparks, and Susan Addison.
Naomi is survived by sisters, Neva Johnson of Kingsport and Trudy Ripley of Glen Allen, VA; brothers, Fred Addison of Johnson City and Don Addison of Kingsport; several nieces and nephews; and special friend, Walter Coats.
The family will receive friends on Wednesday from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. at Hamlett-Dobson Funeral Homes, Kingsport. Graveside services will follow at 3:30 p.m. at East Lawn Memorial Park with Rev. Ray Amos officiating.
Family members and friends will serve as pallbearers.
