Nelle Sipe

Nelle H. Sipe died peacefully on March 30, 2013, at Baysmont in Kingsport, Tennessee. She was born on September 5, 1924, in Detroit, Michigan.

She was preceded in death by her stepfather, Colonel Ret. F.W. Hausmann; her mother, Mildred Moore Hausmann; and a son, George William Sipe.

Nelle is survived by her husband of 66 years, Charles Charlie A. Sipe; son, James Jim Allen Sipe and wife, Phyllis B. Sipe of Kingsport; grandsons, Justin T. Wright and wife, Elizabeth of Johnson City, TN and SSGT Jay T. Wright, USAF, Goldsboro, NC; one sister-in-law, Betty Dudley of Roanoke, VA; one niece, Linda Williams and husband, Forrest of Oldsmar, Fl; and a number of great-nieces and great-nephews.

She was an active member of Mafair United Methodist Church for over 60 years, serving in different leadership capacities. She was a sustaining member of the Junior League, Chair of the Kingsport Christian Women's Club, and she volunteered at Holston Valley Community Hospital.

The family will receive friends on Tuesday from 5 to 7 pm at Mafair United Methodist Church, 1409 E. Center Street, Kingsport, TN. Services will follow at 7 pm with the Reverend Kim Goddard officiating.

Graveside services will be held at 11 am Wednesday at East Lawn Memorial Park, 4997 Memorial Blvd., Kingsport, TN. Family members are friends will gather at East Lawn at 10:45 am.

The Mafair Loyalty Sunday School Class will serve as honorary pallbearers. Special friend Betty Moore, members of the Mafair family, friends from North Carolina and South Carolina will also serve as honorary pallbearers. Pallbearers will be Steve Bingham, Rick Hill, Chad Shanks, Mike Trent, SSGT Jay Wright, and Justin Wright.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to Mafair United Methodist Church.
