Nellie R. Hammonds

Nellie R. Hammonds, 70, of Kingsport died Tuesday morning, June 12, 2007, at Wellmont Holston Valley Medical Center after an extended illness.

She was a lifelong resident of Kingsport and worked for the Sullivan County Board of Education for 12 years. Nellie was a member of Church of Jesus Christ.

Her daughter, Wanda Quillen; and mother, Cordy Bishop, preceded her in death.

Surviving are two sons, Larry Hammonds and wife, Faye, Kingsport, Gary Hammonds, Kingsport; three grandchildren, Richard Quillen, Samuel Quillen, and Larry Hammonds Jr.; and three great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends Wednesday from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Hamlett-Dobson Funeral Homes, Kingsport.

Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. Thursday at Church of Jesus Christ, 1521 Charles Street, Kingsport. Pastor Gene Webb will officiate. Burial will follow at Oak Hill Memorial Park.

Family members and friends will serve as pallbearers
