Nellie Bullis Smith

Nellie Bullis Smith, 98, Kingsport, departed this life on Monday, April 22, 2013. Born in Kingsport (Fordtown Community) on May 31, 1914, a daughter of the late Daniel and Nancy Ann Millhorn Coffman, she had resided in this area her entire life. She was a homemaker and the oldest living member of Glenwood Baptist Church.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to Indian Path Medical Center and Holston Manor.

One of Nellie's strongest desires was to live to be 100 years old.

She was preceded in death by her 1st husband, Walter L. Bullis (1976); her 2nd husband, George Monroe Smith; grandsons, Terry A. Meade (2006) and wife, Shelby Meade; sisters, Lottie Coffman and Mary Lou Ford; brothers, James Coffman and Grover Coffman; and special nephew, Jimmy D. Coffman.

Nellie is survived by her daughter, Ruth Meade of Kingsport; granddaughter, Debbie Gilliam of Kingsport; grandson, Chuck Meade and wife, Beth of Dayton, Ohio; three great-grandchildren, Dawn Tepelides and Ryan Wade, Ryan Meade and wife, Lisa and Jennifer Meade; five great-great-grandchildren, Kayne Meade, Sydney Tepelides, Hanna Sorrell, Lucy Meade and Max Meade; several nieces, nephews and cousins; special niece, Georgie Mae Malone and husband Gerald; special cousin, Margaret Wilder; special friend, Jimmy Allen.

The family will receive friends from 5-7 pm Thursday (April 25, 2013) at Hamlett-Dobson, Downtown. Services will follow at 7:00 pm Thursday in the chapel with Rev. Charles Roberts officiating. Special music will be provided by Mary Barker.

Burial will follow graveside services at 1:00 pm Friday (April 26, 2013) in Beulah Baptist Church Cemetery. Honorary pallbearers will be Chuck Wynne, Jeff Meade, Mark Arnett, Gerald Malone, Denver Ford, Lee Coffman and Jimmy Allen. Those attending committal services are asked to assemble at the graveside by 12:45pm Friday.
