Nellie M. Smith

Nellie M. Smith, 91, previously of Church Hill, now of Surgoinsville, went home to be with her Lord Wednesday, October 12, 2011. She was a lifelong and active member of Cedar Chapel Church. Nellie was loved by many and will be missed by all.

She was preceded in death by husband, Delmus Smith, parents, Orgie and Creasie Light, brothers; Chester, Reece, and Rosevelt Light, sisters; Bertha Goad, Kathleen Simpson and Geneva Light and Joyce Light.

Nellie is survived by two daughters; Velva Ruth Hancock of Church Hill and Nancy Quillen of Surgoinsville, grandchildren; Debbie "Jeannie" Hoskins and husband Harvie of Bluff City, Sharon Anne Clemons of Church Hill, Lois Davis and husband Tom of Surgoinsville, Hope Brown of Church Hill and Alan Quillen of Surgoinsville, seven great-grandchildren, five great-great-grandchildren, brother, James Garfield Light and wife Mable of Kingsport, two sisters; Clara Dykes of Church Hill and Margie Ramey of Rogersville, several nieces, nephews and friends.

Visitation will be on Thursday, October 13, from 6-8:00 pm at Hamlett-Dobson, Kingsport. Graveside services will be at Liberty Hill Cemetery in Mount Carmel on Friday, October 14 at 2:00 pm with Rev. G.W. Jobe officiating.

Pallbearers will be Alan Quillen, James Mallory, Jonothan Mallory, Dave Bradshaw, David Simpson and Wayne Light.
