Nellie Smith Weatherly

Nellie Smith Weatherly, age 86, of Gray, formerly of Church Hill, went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, May 21, 2019 at Holston Valley Medical Center.  Born in Church Hill, TN on June 9, 1932, a daughter of the late Leonard D. and Lora Hammonds Rogers, she had resided in this area her entire life.  She was a homemaker and a member of Buffalo Ridge Baptist Church.  Nellie will be remembered as a loving and devoted mother, mamaw, sister and friend who loved to crochet, cooking, and reading her bible.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to all of her personal caregivers, Trula Cox, Dreama Skeen, Kali Peters, Martha Wallace and Nichole Conley.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her 1^st husband, Grover Bertis Smith; 2^nd husband, William Weatherly; sister, Nancy Clement; brothers, Earl Rogers Allen Rogers, and infant brother, Freddy Rogers.

Nellie is survived by her daughters, Ellen Smith of Blountville, and Wanda Hite and husband, Steve of Kingsport; grandchildren, Dustin Hite of California, Jacob Hite and wife, Anna of Kingsport, Kevin Vaughn of Gray, and Kimberly Reeves of Blountville; great-granddaughter, Lily Rose Reeves; sister, Verna Brownlee and husband, Curt of Mt. Carmel; several nieces and nephews; and her church family.

The family will receive friends from 5-7:00 pm on Thursday, May 23, 2019 at Hamlett-Dobson Funeral Home, Kingsport.  The funeral service will follow at 7:00 pm with Rev. Gary Seaman officiating. 

The graveside service will be held at 10:00 am on Friday at Holston View Cemetery. Those attending committal services are asked to assemble at the cemetery at 9:45 am on Friday.
