Nina Ruth Lyall, known to family and friends as "Ruth", 80, of Gray, TN, passed away on Friday, May 13, 2016, peacefully at her home. Ruth was a devout Baptist and member of Sunnyside Baptist Church. Ruth was born on April 21, 1936, in Clinchco, VA to Donald and Lillie Murphy. After the birth of twin sons and three daughters, she found the true calling as a wife, mother, and homemaker. During her long life, Ruth loved spending time with family and friends, cooking, reading and her love of babysitting at church and at the local fitness club.

Ruth was preceded in death by her husband of 58 years, James W. Lyall, in 2013: and son, Richard Allen Lyall (Kathy) in 2009.

She is survived by her son, Michael Lyall (Suzanne) of Louisville, KY; three daughters, Deborah Boutchyard of Gray, Diana Murphy of Johnson City, and Melinda Lyon (Dana) of Johnson City; siblings, Larry Murphy (Betty), and Seader Mullins (Oak); grandchildren, Heather Westerman (Joe), Sarina Manifold (Brian), Andrea Kelly, Sgt. Scotty Lyall (Kelsey), Matthew Lyall, and Aaron Boutchyard; six (1 on the way) great-grandchildren; and many beloved nieces and nephews, and Ashlee Cunningham.

The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. on Wednesday, May 18, 2016, at Hamlett-Dobson Funeral Home, Kingsport. The family Celebration of Life service will follow at 7 p.m. with Rev. Howard Estep officiating.

A private, family graveside service will be conducted at 10:45 a.m. on Thursday, May 19, 2016 at Mountain Home National Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Richard Butner, Michael Lyall, Dana Lyon, Sgt. Scotty Lyall, and Matthew Lyall.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to DAV (Disabled American Veterans), www.dav.org/Donate; Wounded Warriors, www.woundedwarriorproject.org/Donate; or to a favorite charity of choice.
