November 13, 1928 — November 13, 2018

Nita E. Stice

Nita E. Stice went to be with our Lord on November 13, 2018 - ninety years, to the day, from when she first set foot on this Earth. She was born in Dayton, Ohio, to Herbert and Estella Earles, and grew up in that city. She attended Otterbein College, outside of Columbus, Ohio, leaving to marry her life partner, Archie C. Stice, on July 29, 1950.

Together they had three children and lived in multiple states, Michigan, Florida, Georgia, and Texas, before moving to Tennessee in 1987. Wherever she lived, Nita was active in her local Methodist church, but also in garden clubs, and numerous bridge groups. She was a member of First Broad Street United Methodist Church and the Wesley Sunday School class, serving in the past as co-president and co-chair of the programs committee. She enjoyed knitting, especially afghans, but also baby blankets and caps for the church's Stitch and Pray ministry. She was a devoted and wonderful wife, mother, grandmother, daughter, sister, and aunt. She always loved her succession of dogs, most recently a Schnauzer, but sometimes also homely (but smart) mongrels.

Her parents and brother preceded her in death, as did her beloved Arch in 2011.

She is survived by sons, Mike Stice and wife, Melodie of Kingsport, and the Reverend Father Randy Stice, of Washington, D.C.; daughter Melissa Dahl and husband, Rickey of Murfreesboro; grandson, Joel Stice and wife, Kristen of Nashville; granddaughter, Whitney Barnes and husband, David of Chattanooga; grandson, Blaine Dahl of Houston, TX; and great-grandson, David Barnes of Chattanooga.

The family and friends treasure their memories of her and will miss her vivacious, loving and fierce personality, but know she is at peace and happy to be in Heaven.

An entombment service will be open to everyone, on Saturday at 12:15 pm at Oak Hill Memorial Park.

There will be a memorial service at First Broad Street United Methodist Church at 1:00 pm on Saturday, November 17, 2018 with The Rev. Jack P. Weikel officiating. The family will receive friends in the Parlor following the service.

The family requests that memorial contributions be made to the First Broad Street Friendship Diner ministry, 100 E. Church Circle, Kingsport, TN 37660.
