Nora Lee Powell, 92, of Kingsport, passed away Tuesday, March 27, 2012 at the Wexford House. She was born August 11, 1919 in Marion, N.C. and lived in Kingsport for the past 60 years. Nora was a homemaker and gardener and loved her flowers. She was a member of North Kingsport Church of God.
Preceding her in death were her husband, Jason; two sons, Ken and Mack; daughter, Edith; parents, Minnie and Calloway Carswell; and several brothers and sisters.
Surviving are sons, Earl and wife, Charma Powell, and Calvin and wife, Donna Powell; grandchildren, Patsy, Randy, Travis, Brandon, Sarah and Amanda; great-grandchildren, Dalton, Dakota, Hayden, Gracie and Sophie Nora; sister, Mary Lou Childress and brother, Clyde Carswell; and special caregiver and friend, Kelly Fugate.
The family will receive friends on Thursday, March 29, from 5-7:00 pm at Hamlett-Dobson, Kingsport and at anytime at the home of son, Calvin Powell. Funeral services will follow at 7:00 pm with Rev. Leighton Roberts officiating.
Graveside services will be conducted on Friday, March 30th at 3:00 pm at East Lawn Memorial Park. Family and friends are asked to gather at the cemetery.
