Norma Hite Dockery, 83, went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, November 29, 2017, at her home, surrounded by her family. Norma was the first female mail carrier in Kingsport. She was a member of West View Baptist Church. Norma enjoyed traveling and spending time with her great-grandson, Bryson.
She was preceded in death by her first husband, Kenneth Hite; mother, Ida Barnes; father, Charlie Barnes; sister, Juanita Arnold; sister, Linda Miller; and brothers, Kay Barnes, Billy Barnes, and Beryl Barnes.
Norma is survived by her husband, Orbin "Junior" Dockery; daughter, Yvonne Pilkenton and husband Tim; son, Randy Hite and wife Becky; two sons by marriage, Lee Dockery and wife Sherry and their children, Christina Parker and Mackenzie Cornett, and Gary Dockery and wife Shannon and their children, Rebekah Hicks and daughter, Liahna, and Michala Dockery; grandchildren, Frankie Tidwell, Kendra Taylor, Rachael Lenker, Randi Hite, Timothy Pilkenton, and Greg Pilkenton; great-grandchildren, Bryson and Gavin Tidwell, Alaric, Jamyz, and Aurora Lenker; sister, Iva Mae Townsend and husband Joe; brother, Dale Barnes and wife Carol; several nieces, nephews, and cousins; and special niece, Brenda Cain.
The family will receive friends from 12 p.m. to 2 p.m. on Friday, December 1, 2017, at Hamlett-Dobson Funeral Home, Fall Branch, or anytime at the home. The funeral service will follow at 2 p.m. with Pastor Mike Stout officiating.
Burial will follow at Logans Chapel Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be family and friends.
