Norman Dykes

Norman Dykes, 85, of Unicoi, went to be with the Lord to be with his family, due to heart failure. Norman was born in Greene County and resided in Unicoi for the past 20 years. Norman was a brick mason, and he loved to play the guitar and play Chet Atkins music. He attended University Parkway Church.

Norman was preceded in death by his wife, Gladys Dykes; son, Dwayne Dykes; and daughter, Lori King.

Survivors include his special friend, Doris McInturff; children, Charlotte Franklin and Steve, Ruby Bryant, Patricia Shipley and Randy; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren; several nieces, nephews and cousins; special friends, Ann and Doug Hoilman.

Graveside services will be conducted on Monday, March 3, 2025 at 1:00 p.m. at Pleasant Hill Cumberland Presbyterian Church with Pastor Ryan Shaffer officiating.

The family would like to extend special thanks to the nursing staff on 2nd floor at Johnson City Medical Center for their care of Norman.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Norman’s memory to Alzheimer’s Association, 225 N. Michigan Ave., Fl. 17, Chicago, IL 60601 or American Heart Association, P.O. Box 840692, Dallas, TX 75284-0692.
