Norman King

Norman King, 89, of the Sullivan Gardens Community, passed away on Thursday, September 18, 2014 at his home with his family by his side, following a lengthy illness. He was born in Sullivan County and was a lifelong resident, having attended Sullivan High School. Norman was a lifelong farmer. He attended Glen Alpine United Methodist Church and was a member of the Alpine Class. Norman was a fan of Tennessee football and loved the Lady Vols.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Sam and Clyde King.

Norman is survived by his wife of 59 ½ years, Joan Ball King; two daughters, Pam King and Wendy King both of Kingsport; son, Jeff King of Kingsport; brother, Jimmie King and wife, Joyce of Houston, TX; two nieces, Debbie and Julie; nephew, Bryan; and the family pet, "Cooper".

The family will receive friends on Monday from 5:00-7:00 pm at Glen Alpine United Methodist Church. The funeral service will follow at 7:00 pm with Rev. Rhonda Hobbs officiating.

The graveside service will be conducted on Tuesday at 11:00 am at Cross Anchor Cemetery in Greene County.

Pallbearers will be Barry Jones, Dwight Ingram, Carl Childress, Tom Zollman, Eddie Williams and Ernest Harrison.

Honorary pallbearers will be Bobby Barger, Charles McNeese, Gary Jones, Jonathan Bailey, Jim Phillips, Michael Gerald Crawford, Doyle Morelock, and Charles "Bud" Hunt; and a special neighbor, Terry Margotta.
