Oberlee T. O.T. Adams, 83, beloved father, husband, grandfather, of Huber Heights, OH, formerly of Kingsport, passed away Tuesday, October 13, 2009 at Good Samaritan Hospital, Dayton, OH. Oberlee was born April 21, 1926 in Greeneville to the late Landon C. & Janie Fox Adams. He was a retired Master Sergeant from the U.S. Army with over 20 years of service, having served in WWII, the Korean Conflict, and Vietnam. He was a former assistant golf pro at Ridgefield Country Club and managed Meadowview Golf Course while serving as golf pro there.
Oberlee was preceded in death by his first wife Geraldine "Jerry" in 1988; sister, Chloe Walker; brothers, Roscoe, Billy, Johnny, Link, and Charlie Adams.
He is survived by his wife, Eva; son & partner, Larry D. Adams & Rohn Outlaw of Kingsport; daughters & sons-in-law, Sandy & Wayne Thomas of Kingsport, Sharron & Glenn Grogean of Englewood, OH, Gayle & Denny Byrd of Huber Heights, OH, Bennie Sue & Keith Walker of Riverside, CA; sisters, Lizzie Pierce Fox Delbert & Della Williams all of Chuckey; grandchildren, Travis Hart, Brandie Moody, Jessica Buckner, Steve & Randy Grogean, Sean Powers, Heather Soliz, Aubrey Lovell & Jeremy Maltsberger; numerous great grandchildren, other relatives and friends.
The family will receive friends on Sunday from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. at Hamlett-Dobson Funeral Home, Kingsport, or anytime at the daughter's home or son's home. Funeral services will be conducted at 4:00 p.m. in the funeral home chapel with Pastor Richard Bowers officiating.
A graveside service will be conducted on Monday at 11:00 a.m. in Mountain Home National Cemetery with military rites being conducted by the VFW Post #4933. Those wishing to go in procession are asked to meet at the funeral home at 10:00 a.m.
