Okie Stacy Taylor of Kingsport, born December 25, 1920, went to be with the Lord at age 91 on Sunday, November 18, 2012 after a brief illness. She was a devoted and loving wife, mother and fifth generation great-great-grandmother who was loved by all who knew her. Okie was of the Christian faith and a member of Morrison City Christian Church.
She was joined in heaven by her husband, of 39 years, Aurthur Taylor; her parents, Arch and Ida Stacy; her sister, Leora Russell; three sons, Keith Taylor, Paul Taylor and James Chester Taylor; daughter, Mary Etta Todd; one grandchild, Mike Taylor; and three great-grandchildren, Shannon Taylor, Matthew Taylor and Justin Thompson.
Okie leaves behind two daughters, Marjorie Thompson and husband, James of Kingsport, and Frances Depew and husband, J.W. of Kingsport; four sons, Frank Taylor of Duffield, VA, Jerry Taylor and wife, Jennifer of Fort Blackmore, VA, Denny Taylor and wife, Vicki of Lincoln Park, Michigan, and Dwight Taylor and wife, Kathy of Gate City, VA. She also leaves behind 119 grand, great-grand, and great-great-grandchildren along with several special nieces, nephews and cousins.
The family will receive friends on Tuesday, November 20th from 5-8:00 pm at Hamlett-Dobson, Kingsport.
Funeral services will be conducted on Wednesday, November 21st at 11:00 am at Morrison City Christian Church with Pastor Bob Underwood and Pastor J.W. Depew officiating. Granddaughter, Christy Jordan will provide the eulogy. Burial will follow the funeral service in Holston View Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Keith Taylor, Mark Taylor, Sam Taylor, David Thompson, Jeff Thompson and Steven Thompson. Honorary pallbearers will be Randy Taylor, Cody Collins and Eric Thompson.
