Opal Roman Crussell, 88, Kingsport, departed this earthly life to begin a new life in heaven with her beloved husband and son July 1, 2014. Born April 7, 1926 in Russell County, VA to parents Paul James and Isia Ann Gilbert Roman she lived most of her adult life in the Kingsport area.
After 30 years of service Opal retired from Arcata Graphics in 1986 and was able to become more involved in service to Kingsley United Methodist Church where she was a long time member. The project she enjoyed most was the design and installation of the stained glass windows in the sanctuary of the church. She was faithful in her church attendance until her health would no longer allow her to participate in services.
Opal was preceded in death by her husband William A. "Bill" Crussell, son Michael W. Crussell, grandson Paul James Breeding, parents, brothers Vanner L. Roman, Glen E. Roman and James L. Roman.
She is survived by her daughter and special son-in-law Billie Ann and James W. "Jack" Breeding; grandsons Matthew Crussell, Jeff and Dan Breeding; granddaughter Lindsay Crussell and fiancé Stephen Smith; great grandchildren Jacob, Taylor, Tanner, Sydney and Jordan Breeding; sister Bettie (David) Haley and brother Dan Roman; several nieces and nephews.
The family would like to extend their thanks to the staff at The Wexford House for their care of Opal and a special thanks to her friends from Kingsley U.M. Church who visited her when she needed them most.
Visitation will be from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m on Saturday at Kingsley United Methodist Church. A service of celebration lead by Rev. Ray Amos, Sr. and Rev. Adam Love will follow visitation. Music will be under the direction of John Powers accompanied by Patty Waugh.
Burial will follow at East Lawn Memorial Park. Pallbearers will be Dan Breeding, Jeff Breeding, Matthew Crussell, Jacob Breeding, Tanner Breeding and Toby Roman. Honorary pallbearers will be Lindsey Crussell, Taylor Breeding, Sydney Breeding, and Jordan Breeding.
