Opie Hamilton, 40, of Kingsport, died Friday morning, April 3, 2009, at Holston Manor after a brief battle with cancer. He was born in Kingsport where he resided all his life.
He was a 1986 graduate of Dobyns-Bennett High School and had attended Northeast State Technical Community College. His last employment was at Bad Toys, Inc. in Kingsport. Opie enjoyed fishing and hunting with his friends. The family would like to thank the staffs of Indian Path Medical Center ICU, Holston Manor, and Amedisys Hospice for their compassion and care.
Opie was preceded in death by his parents, George Hamilton and Anna Lee Hagan; and grandparents, Viola Roller, Lee Roller, Opal Hamilton, and Oma Hamilton.
He is survived by one daughter, Hope Hamilton of Kingsport; stepmother, Connie Hamilton, Kingsport; two sisters, Barbara Bredehoeft and husband Dr. Michael, Jacksonville, FL, and Diane Bowen and husband David, Kingsport; one brother, Clint Hamilton, Knoxville; maternal grandmother, Betty Jones, Kingsport; one uncle, Jerry Roller and wife Tamara, Kingsport; cousins, Summer and Savannah Roller; niece and nephews, Haley and Ben Bowen, and Finley Bredehoeft.
A private family service will be held at Hamlett-Dobson Funeral Homes, Kingsport.
