Opal Patterson Sells

Opal Patterson Sells, 90, of Kingsport entered into eternal rest on Saturday, August 2, 2014. Opal was born on May 9, 1924 in Hawkins County, TN and had resided in Kingsport for most of her life. She retired from Tennessee Eastman Company in 1958. Opal was a life member of the American Legion Auxiliary Post #3. She was a born again Christian. Opal was a loving and devoted wife, mother, nana and sister.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Sam and Minnie Patterson; husband Russell P. Sells in 2005; six sisters and five brothers.

Survivors include her sons Rickey D. Sells, W. Emory Sells and wife Dianna; grandchildren Crystal VanHuss and husband Richard of Elizabethton, TN, William E. Sells III and fiancée Stephanie Owens, Brandie M. Sells and Shawna Collins and husband, Curtis; great-grandchildren Bryce and Bailee VanHuss, Haylie, Jordyn and Christian Sells, Makenna Sells and Brentyn Collins; sister-in-law Iva Dell Patterson of Church Hill, TN and several nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends from 5-7 pm on Tuesday, August 5, 2014 at Hamlett-Dobson Funeral Homes, Kingsport. Funeral services will follow at 7 pm with Pastor Mike Stout and Bro. Danny Dolen officiating. Graveside services will be conducted at 11 am on Wednesday, August 6th at Liberty Hill Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be James Crawford, John Dunn, Jason Patterson, Eddie Patterson, Richard VanHuss, and William Sells III.
