Ora Irene Roberts Sherfey

Ora Irene Roberts Sherfey, 86, of Kingsport, died Wednesday morning, April 22, 2009, at Wellmont Holston Valley Medical Center after an extended illness. Born in Hancock County, Tennessee, Mrs. Sherfey had resided in Kingsport for most of her life. She had worked for several years at Oakwood Markets and retired in 1987 having worked mostly at the Greenacres location. Mrs. Sherfey was a Baptist.

Preceding her in death were her parents, Mack and Cordie Roberts; a granddaughter, Amber Roberts; two sisters; and a brother.

Mrs. Sherfey is survived by three sons, Ralph Roberts and wife Shelby of Mt. Carmel, Jerry Sherfey and wife Kathy of Kingsport, and Larry Sherfey and wife Jan of Summerville, South Carolina; seven grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends from 5:00 - 7:00 p.m. Friday at Hamlett-Dobson Funeral Home, Kingsport. Services will follow at 7:00 p.m. with Rev. Joe Hill and Pastor Robert Fletcher officiating.

Graveside services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday at East Lawn Memorial Park. Family members and friends will serve as pallbearers. Those wishing to attend should meet at Hamlett-Dobson Funeral Home at 10:15 a.m. to join the procession.
