Orley Ray Blakley, 81, of Fall Branch, died Sunday, March 20, 2016, at Wellmont Holston Valley Medical Center after an extended illness. Born in Sullivan County where he resided most of his life before moving to Fall Branch, Orley was a graduate of Sullivan High. He was stationed in Hawaii in the U.S. Army for 4 years. Orley Ray retired from Helig-Meyers Furniture store in Norton, VA in 1999. He was a member of Rock Springs United Methodist Church. Orley Ray was a loving husband, father, grandfather and brother.
He is survived by his wife, Gladys Geredda Blakley of the home; two daughters, Sherry Overbay and husband, Casey, and Tonya Johnson and husband, Joe; two sons, Tim Blakley and Bret Blakley and wife, Sara Hope; three grandchildren, Jay Overbay, Doug Overbay and Katie Jo Johnson; two great-grandchildren, Josiah Overbay and Abigail Overbay; sister, Becky Sizemore; brother Danny Blakley and wife, Sandra of Piney Flats; and nephew, Tony Sizemore.
The family will receive friends on Wednesday from 5-7:00 pm at Hamlett-Dobson Funeral Home. The funeral service will follow at 7:00 pm with Doug Overbay, Pastor Jay Overbay and Rev. Robert Coffey officiating.
The graveside service will be conducted on Thursday at 11:00 am at East Lawn Memorial Park.
