Orlie M. (Junior) Chase, 93, passed away on Saturday, December 26, 2015 at Wellmont Holston Valley Medical Center. Born on March 3, 1922, Orlie was a World War II veteran. He retired from Tennessee Eastman Company in 1984 after 31 years of service. Orlie was the oldest living member or Eastern Star Free Will Baptist Church, having attended for 88 years. He was the Chairman of the Board of Trustees, and was fondly referred to as the Mayor of Eastern Star. Orlie never met a stranger and loved to talk to everyone.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Wayne T. and Ona Repass Chase; two brothers, Lee Blayne Chase and Burl T. Chase.
Orlie is survived by his wife of 73 years, Athalee Arnott Chase; children, Wade and Peggy Cox; grandchildren, Sonja Crowe, and Miles and Tammy Cox; great-grandson, Gunnar Crowe; niece, Carolyn (Tommy) Copas; and nephew, Gary (Pat) Chase.
The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 pm on Monday at Eastern Star Free Will Baptist Church. The funeral service will follow with Rev George Winegar and Pastor Kevin Rose officiating, and music by Judy Carroll.
Graveside services will be conducted at 11 a.m. on Tuesday at Eastern Star Free Will Baptist Church Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Kenny Amburgy, Gentry Ferguson, Ken Thompson, Eddie Barry, Warren Vicars, Mike Carroll, Teddy Whetsel, and Junior Grills.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Eastern Star Church Cemetery Fund, c/o Betty Hale, 2020 Fordtown Road, Jonesborough, TN 37659.
