Orville Monroe Sherfey

Orville Monroe Sherfey, 66, of Kendleworth Drive, Kingsport, went home to be with his Heavenly Father Saturday morning, March 2, 2013, after a courageous battle with cancer.

Orville was born in Blountville, TN. He was raised in Church Hill and later moved to Kingsport where he resided for the past 40 years. Orville was the owner of Remodel by Orville where he was a roofer for 45 years before retiring and turning the business over to his sons. He attended Gospel Mission Church until his health would be longer let him attend.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Carolyn Ruth Sherfey, his parents, Earl Sherfey and Bertie Hickman Sherfey, and an infant sister, Edna Irene Sherfey.

Orville is survived by his sons, Donald Sherfey, Dave Sherfey and wife, Brenda, Darrell Sherfey and wife, Brittany, and Daniel Sherfey, all of Kingsport; grandchildren, Donald Sherfey, Jr., Nicholas Sherfey, Hayley Byrd, Serena Sherfey, Joe Sherfey, Courtney Sherfey, Brayden Mature, Kassidy Sherfey, JoBeth Sherfey and Lacey Sherfey; brothers and sisters-in-law, Stanley Sherfey and wife, Liz, Orgie Sherfey and wife, Lois, and William Sherfey and wife, Mildred; sisters and brothers-in-law, Louise Light, Linda Morrison and husband, Jackie, and Ruth McNabb and husband, Terry; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-laws, Earl Wayne Cox and wife, Marie, and James Keener Cox; special friend, Nella Mae Phillips; special adopted daughter, Christie Mauk; and several nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends at anytime at the home of Donald Sherfey, 4121 Reservoir Rd., Kingsport, TN.

The family will receive friends on Monday from 5-7:00 at Hamlett-Dobson, Kingsport. Funeral services will follow at 7:00 pm Rev. Louie Meade, Rev. Dan Dolen and Rev. Shelton Meade officiating. Music will be provided by the musicians from Gospel Mission Church.

Graveside services will be conducted on Tuesday at 11:00 am at Beulah Baptist Church Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Donald Sherfey, Jr., Nicholas Sherfey, Joe Sherfey, Wayne Light, Bobby Light, Scott Morrison, Brian Morrison and Brad Compton.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Gospel Mission Church Building Fund, 7469 Lone Star Rd., Kingsport, TN 37660.
