Pastor Orville Charles Dolen, 89, born November 4, 1922 passed away April 23, 2012. Preacher Orville pastored Gospel Mission Church from 1958 until 1993. He retired from Sullivan County Highway Department in 1977 and was a veteran of the U.S. Army having served in WW II.
He was preceded in death by his parents, C.N. and Minnie Dolen; two brothers, Kenneth and Clarence Dolen; and one sister, Betty Dolen.
Preacher Dolen is survived by his wife of 64 years, Maude Light Dolen; four sons, Roy Dolen and wife, Kathy, Charles Tim Dolen and wife, Sue, Ronald Dolen and wife, Faye, and Preacher Dan Dolen and wife, Susie; six grandchildren, Traci Dolen Taylor and husband, Jason, Dr. C. Todd Dolen and wife, Darci, Jennifer Cavin and husband, Stephen, Gina Davenport and husband, Eric, Adam and Philip Dolen; four great-grandchildren, Noah and Judah Dolen, and Carter and Caitlyn Cavin; sister, Pauline Rogers; sister-in-law, Lillian Dolen; niece, Linda Dolen; nephew, Shannon Reynolds; and a host of friends.
The family will receive friends on Wednesday, April 25, 2012 from 4-7:00 pm at Hamlett-Dobson, Fall Branch and at anytime at the home of Dan Dolen. Funeral services will follow visitation at 7:00 pm with Pastor Lewis Meade, Brother Shelton Meade and Honorary Preacher G.W. Jobe officiating.
Graveside services will be conducted on Thursday, April 26th at 11:00 am at Duncan-Dolen Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Dr. C. Todd Dolen, Adam and Philip Dolen, Jason Taylor, Stephen Cavin and Eric Davenport. Honorary pallbearers will be Virgil Arnold, Ralph Littleton and Sammy Eastep.
