Patricia Ann Duncan went to be with the Lord on Saturday morning, January 1, 2011 at Wexford House after a lengthy illness.
Patricia, known as Patsy to family and friends, was born in Knoxville on September 26, 1930 to Lillie Mae and Joseph Clyde Patterson. While she was still in elementary school the family moved to Kingsport. Patsy was a graduate of Dobyns-Bennett High School and Lees-McRae College. She married Haskell "Cobb" Duncan of Fall Branch, and after his untimely death, returned to college and earned a bachelor's degree in elementary education from ETSU. She then began a teaching career which spanned thirty-three years as a third grade teacher at Cedar Grove Elementary School in Sullivan County. Patsy was a charter member of Bethel Presbyterian Church and remained active until she suffered a fall in late October 2010. She was a lady of deep faith with a generous, loving spirit and a wonderful sense of humor, even during adversity.
In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Deborah.
Patsy is survived by her daughter, Linda Duncan McIver of Kingsport; sister, Nancy Patterson Waters of Kingsport; two nieces, Hayley Waters and Eva Guinness, both of Atlanta; two sisters-in-law and their spouses, Helen and Henry Stone, Clara and Don Ward; and a special friend of her daughter, Blesilda Quarles, whom Patsy considered her own.
