KINGSPORT - Patricia Dillon Woodham, 84, of Kingsport passed away Saturday morning (May 24, 2014) at Wellmont Holston Valley Medical Center following an extended illness.
She was born in Normal, Illinois, the daughter of two college professors, but lived most of her life in Jacksonville, Alabama. She moved to Kingsport in April 1951 from Jacksonville, AL with her husband, the late Robert A. Woodham, whom she had met while a student at University of Alabama.
During her 60+ years in the Kingsport community, she worked with and supported many organizations such as Junior League, Hospital Auxiliary, First Broad Street United Methodist Church, as well our Public Library, Theatre Guild and more. She was a local daily TV personality in the early 1970's, hosting "The Somebody Special Show", interviewing the famous and not so famous local personalities. She also had a real passion for writing and published her first book, "Dragons Out My Window", in 1997 after living in Hong Kong for 5 years due to an Eastman family transfer.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Alan Woodham; son, John Keith Woodham; son-in-law Franklin Eugene Pardue; parents, Martha Ruby Keith Dillon and Chester Charles Dillon; brother, Robert Chester Dillon.
Surviving are her daughters, Elizabeth Woodham Pardue and Lucy Woodham Stewart and husband Chilton; granddaughters, Patricia Katherine Pardue Carrico and husband Kenneth, Christina Keith Pardue, Emily Keith Stewart and Madeline Taylor Stewart.
The funeral service will be held 10:30am Monday, May 26th, with Rev. Jack Edwards and Rev. Jack Weikel officiating, at Hamlett Dobson Funeral Home Kingsport with reception to follow. A family graveside service will be held on Monday, May 26th, at East Lawn Memorial Park.
