Patsy L. "Pete" McGathey Bracken

Patsy L. "Pete" McGathey Bracken, of Kingsport, left her family quietly on Thursday, December 29, 2011.

She was born December 22, 1949, the daughter of Emmett McGathey and Hattie Lois Stapleton Moore. Patsy was a wonderful sister and loving friend to all who knew her.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Steven Bracken; brother, Bobby McGathey; and nephew, Anthony Shaffer.

Survivors include her sisters, Ada Stapleton, Cathy DeVault, and Betty Henry, all of Kingsport; brothers, Steve McGathey and wife Brenda of Kingsport, Roger McGathey and companion Mark Speer of Maine; special friend, Peter Heintz; mother-in-law, Irma Bracken of Johnson City; brother-in-law, David Bracken of Johnson City; sister-in-law, Brenda Queen of North Carolina; special niece and nephew, Jenny Henry Herron and Brian Henry; several other nieces, nephews, and cousins; and her loving dog, "Bootie".

The family will receive friends from 11 a.m. to 12 noon Saturday at Hamlett-Dobson Funeral Homes, Kingsport. Services will follow at noon with Rev. Robert Cole officiating and the eulogy will be given by Peter Heintz.

A family burial will follow at Monte Vista Memorial Gardens in Johnson City. Nephews serve as pallbearers.
