Patsy Wrenn Clapp

Patsy Wrenn Clapp, 89, Kingsport, passed away on Friday, September 25, 2015. A native of Charlotte, NC, she had resided in Kingsport since 1948. Patsy was a graduate of Elon College and Watts Hospital School of Technology, and worked at Holston Valley Community Hospital. She was a member of First Broad Street United Methodist Church, where she was a Sunday School teacher, sang with The Sounds Of Joy Choir, and a member of the Greer Memorial Sunday School Class. Patsy was a volunteer with the Girl Scouts of America, Meals on Wheels, and Friends In Need Clinic.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Owen Z. and Timesia Belvin Wrenn; brother, Owen Z. Wrenn, Jr.; two sisters, Harriet W. Jones and Timesia W. Paul; son-in-law, Dr. Ron N. Rice; and daughter-in-law, Rosanne Clapp.

Patsy is survived by her husband of 67 years, John William "Bill" Clapp, Jr.; two daughters, Pamela C. Rice of Nashville, TN, and Susan C. Ramsay of Franklin, TN; two sons, John O. Clapp of Raleigh, NC, and Belvin W. Clapp of Macon, GA; grandchildren, Rev. Bradley N. Rice, Captain William Tyler Rice, and Owen Clapp; great-granddaughter, Caroline; and several very special nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends on Tuesday from 11 a.m. to 12 p.m. at First Broad Street United Methodist Church, with services to follow with Rev. Joe Green and Rev. Jack Weikel officiating.

Graveside services will follow at Oak Hill Memorial Park.

Family and friends will serve as pallbearers. Greer Memorial Sunday School Class will serve as honorary pallbearers.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to First Broad Street United Methodist Church, 100 E Church Circle, Kingsport, TN 37660.
