Patsy Ruth Ward Gray
Patsy Ruth Ward Gray, 83, of Kingsport, went to be with the Lord and my daddy, Saturday, February 23, 2013 with her loving and caring family by her side.
Born in Fall Branch, TN on May 28, 1929, a daughter of the late Charlie G. and Artie Lloyd Ward, she has resided in this area her entire life.
Mrs. Gray retired from Sullivan County School System after cooking/ managing the cafeteria at Cedar Grove Elementary School for 30 years.
She was a charter member of the Eagle Lodge Ladies Auxiliary 3141 of Kingsport, TN. She enjoyed all the fund raisers, making apple butter in a copper kettle over an open fire, and making chow-chow to raise money for local charities.
Mrs. Gray was a member of Vermont United Methodist Church. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and granny, and sister. She will be missed by all who knew her.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her loving husband of 52 years, Eugene Gray in 2001; and two brothers, Roy Ward and Ray J. Ward.
Survivors include her loving daughter, Doris Jean Helton and son-in-law Roger of Kingsport; a grandson, Todd Shepherd of Kingsport; special great-grandson, Conner Cross of Kingsport; special great-grand dog, Jack Helton; sisters, Georgia Drain of Fall Branch, Helen Eastep of Limestone, Mary Dunn of Kingsport; brothers, Don Ward and wife Clara of Fall Branch, Robert "Pup" Ward and wife Linda of Kingsport; several special nieces and nephews; and special friends.
Calling hours are from 1 to 3 p.m. Monday at Hamlett-Dobson Funeral Home, Kingsport and friends may also call at the residence. Services will be held at 3 p.m. with Rev. Homer Roller and Rev. Vic Wallace officiating.
Burial will follow at Oak Hill Memorial Park.
Pallbearers will be Randy Robinette, Charles Eastep, Jeff Drain, Steve Moffitt, Kenny Ward, Brent Davis, Tony Ward, and Fred Hudson.
Honorary pallbearers will be Les Ward, Jimmy Ward, David Maltsburger, Rick Sumner, Howard Eastep, Sammy Eastep, David Eastep, and all members of Eagles #3141.
Memorials may be given to Lovelace Baptist Church Cemetery Fund, 930 Ryan Road, Fall Branch, TN 37656 or the organization of donor's choice.
