Paul W. Burton

Paul W. Burton, 84, Kingsport, went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, September 4, 2013 at Wellmont Holston Valley Medical Center. Born in Himp Hill, KY, Paul was raised by Uncle Willard and Aunt Vergie Burton in Russell County, VA. He was a graduate of Temple Hill High School and of Syracuse University in Syracuse, NY. Paul served with the U.S. Air Force and retired from the Meade Corporation following 42 years of service. He was a member of the Mafair United Methodist Church, a 50 year member of the Kingsport Masonic Lodge and a member of the American Legion.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Paris and Maude Burton; special aunt and uncle, Willard and Vergie Burton; and sister, Hazel Burton.

Paul is survived by his wife of 62 years, Lotus Morrison Burton of Kingsport; brother, Robert H.C. Burton and wife, Verna of Kingsport; two sisters, Hazel B. Wallace and husband, Clayton of Nickelsville, VA, and Shirley B. Campbell and husband, Jim of Castlewood, VA; sister-in-law, Beulah Morrison of Church Hill; special nieces and nephews, Melissa and Robert Lawson, Colleen Malone, Angela King, Lisa Burton, Byron and April Wallace, Anthony and Becky Burton and Jonathan Wallace; several great-nieces and nephews; and special friends, Paul Burke and Tom Lovensheimer.

The family will receive friends on Friday from 5-7:00 pm at Hamlett-Dobson Funeral Home, Kingsport. Funeral services will follow at 7:00 pm with Joy Eastridge, Parish Nurse, officiating.

Graveside services will be conducted on Saturday at 2:00 pm at Oak Hill Memorial Park. Honorary pallbearers will be the Sunday School Class (The Homebuilders) of Mafair United Methodist Church.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to Mafair United Methodist Church, 1409 E. Center Street, Kingsport, TN 37664.
