BOLD PRINT: Paul Ingle Byrd
Paul Ingle Byrd, 79, of Kingsport passed away Monday morning, August 20, 2007, at Wellmont Holston Valley Medical Center following a brief illness.
Born in Scott County, Virginia, he had resided in Kingsport most of his life and was a veteran of the U. S. Army serving in the Korean Conflict. Paul retired from Mead Corporation after 39 years of service. He attended Homeland Baptist Church.
Preceding him in death were his first wife, Betty Dowell Byrd; his second wife, Hazel Linkous Byrd; his parents, William C. and Bertha Bates Byrd; four sisters, Polly Lane, Georgia Pierson, Edith Huffman, Ruth Cole; and two brothers, Norman Byrd and Conley Byrd.
Surviving are one daughter, Syntha Lorenz and husband, John, Vallejo, California; one son, Dennis Byrd and wife, Sandra, Kingsport; four stepdaughters, Sandra Al-Kaja, Patsy Sims, Betty Jean Dowell, Jacqueline Gibson; one grandson, Joseph Byrd; stepson, Michael Dowell; seven step-grandchildren, Josh Price, James Webb, Stephanie Jean Stone, Rachel Webb, Jamiel Al-Kaja, Ameera Al-Kaja, and Hillary Gibson; three step-great-grandchildren, Christian Webb, Jackson Webb, Graclyn Jean Stone; one sister, Rhoda Cole, Blountville; two brothers, Ray Byrd and wife, Bea and James Byrd and wife, Marion, both of Kingsport; and several nieces and nephews.
Calling hours are 6-8:00 p.m. Friday at Hamlett-Dobson Funeral Home Kingsport.
Services will be conducted at 10:30 a.m. Saturday in the funeral home chapel with Pastor
J. W. Depew officiating.
Pallbearers will be family members and friends.
Burial will follow at Gunnings Cemetery with military graveside rites conducted by American Legion Post 3/265.
