Paul D. Chastain peacefully passed away at home at the age of 99 on Tuesday, June 19, 2018. He was born in Watertown, TN, and spent most of his life in Kingsport, TN. He had a long career practicing law in Kingsport. Paul served in the US Navy as a Petty Officer First Class on the U.S.S. Fieberling Destroyer Escort in the Pacific Theater during WWII. He was a member of several civic and fraternal organizations. He loved music, fishing, and watching the Atlanta Braves. Paul was a member of First Presbyterian Church.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Christine and Erskine Chastain, and his brother, Allen Chastain.
Paul is survived by his wife, Patsy Chastain of the home; daughters, Janice Cloud and husband, Larry of Kingsport, Linda Droke and husband, Steve of Kingsport, and Susan Pence of San Ramon, California; son, Spence Oliver and wife, Judy of Franklin, TN; 9 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great-grandchild; and sisters, Laura Ellen Raulston of Ft. Oglethorpe, GA, and Betty Jo Willoughby of Franklin, TN.

The family will receive friends from 12:00 pm to 1:00 pm on Friday, June 22, 2018 at Hamlett-Dobson Funeral Home, Kingsport. The funeral service will follow at 1:00 pm with Rev. Sharon Amstutz officiating. Burial will follow at 2:30 at Mountain Home National Cemetery. Military Graveside rites will be accorded by American Legion Posts 3/265.
