Paul Dwight Hooven, 63, Kingsport, passed away at 6:30 a.m. Saturday, October 20, 2007 at Wellmont Holston Valley Medical Center after a lengthy illness.
He was employed by Roy B. Moore and ABF Freight System, from where he retired in 1999. He belonged to the Teamsters Union. Dwight was loved by everyone he came in contact with.
Preceding him in death were his mother and father, Denver and Izola Dennison Hooven; three brothers, James Hooven, Douglas Hooven, and Ernest Hooven; one sister-in-law, Carolyn Hooven; three brothers-in-law, Elmer Cody, Robert Cody, and Roy Cody.
Surviving are his loving wife of 33 years, Shelby Jean Cody Hooven of the home; three brothers, Charles Hooven and wife, Rachel, Kingsport, Harold Hooven, Kingsport, and Robert Lowell Hooven, Church Hill; sisters-in-law, Marslean Hooven, Mount Carmel, Anna Dora Hooven, Kingsport, Bona Cody, Kingsport, and Hazel Cody, Tallassee, FL; very special ex-sister-in-law, Barbara Hooven, Kingsport; several nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews; one great-great-niece; and his special companion, ?Spike?.
The family extends a special thank you to Dr. Blackwell and the staff at Wellmont Holston Valley Medical Center.
Calling hours are from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday at Hamlett-Dobson Funeral Home, Kingsport.
Services will be conducted at 8 p.m. Monday at the funeral home with Rev. Mike Stout and Rev. J. W. Depew officiating.
Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at East Lawn Memorial Park.
Pallbearers will be Jack Ketron, Joe Townsend, Raymond Johnson, Gaylord Alley, Scottie Deel, Earl Selfe, and Bill Neurdenburg.
