Paul Hughes, 57, of Fall Branch, left this world on Tuesday, November 2, 2010. He was a gentle generous man and a tireless volunteer for CASA for kids, making a difference in the lives of children in need of a champion within the legal system.
Paul was a veteran of the U.S. Army. He had previously worked as a sales representative for IRPCO in Kingsport. He was a drummer and an avid blues fan, a voracious reader, and an expert at crossword puzzles.
Paul quit drinking ten years ago and remained sober as an active member of Alcoholics Anonymous. His triumph over hardship and tragedy was an inspiration to others, and he helped many people on the journey of recovery from alcoholism. He will be greatly missed.
He was preceded in death by his wife Janet and an infant son, Payton; his parents C.R. and Maxie Stevens Hughes; and his brother Steven Hughes.
Survivors include two sisters: Janis Wilson and husband, Larry of El Paso, Texas; and Linda Dotson and husband, Claude of Nebo, North Carolina.
Graveside services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, November 22, 2010 at the Mountain Home National Cemetery.
Paul requested that memorial contributions may be made to CASA for Kids, 317 Shelby Street, Suite 206, Kingsport, TN 37660.
