Paul Monroe Roberts, 89, of the Pine Grove Community, Chuckey, TN, went to be with his Heavenly Father on Tuesday, June 24, 2008 at his home, surrounded by his family who loved and respected him, following an extended illness.
Born on April 5, 1919, Paul was employed by Franklin Furniture Company for more than 20 years and was a lifelong farmer. He was a faithful and dedicated member of Pine Grove Freewill Baptist Church.
He was preceded in death by one son, Michael Roberts; his parents, James Curtis and Agnes Dezarn Roberts; brothers, Homer, Guy, Nelse, Worley, Birthil, Ben, and Virgil Roberts; and sisters, Martha Gragg and Nell Byington.
Paul is survived by his loving wife of 57 years, Mary Jane McCamy Roberts of the home; son and daughter-in-law, Rev. Joe and Judy Roberts of Duffield, VA; son, Charlie Roberts of the home; daughters and sons-in-law, Lowanda and Terry Dawson, Alice and Rev. Danny Willis, all of the Pine Grove Community, Linda Rosie and Jerry Chatman of Fall Branch; eleven grandchildren; sixteen great-grandchildren; and a host of family and friends.
The family will receive friends from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. and 6:00 to 8:00 on Thursday June 26, 2008 at Pine Grove Freewill Baptist Church at 12690 Horton Highway.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. Friday June 27, 2008 at Pine Grove Freewill Baptist Church with Rev. Ricky Adams, Rev. Orville Dolen, Rev. Steve Davis, and Rev. Wayne Waycaster officiating.
Graveside services will follow in the church cemetery.
Pallbearer will be his grandsons: Ralph and Larry McGhee, Michael and Nathan Willis, James Chatman, and Adam Roberts.
Honorary pallbearers will be the Men's Sunday School Class of Pine Grove Freewill Baptist Church.
Memorial contributions may be made to Pine Grove Freewill Baptist Church Building Fund, c/o Brenda Wilcox, 12725 Horton Highway, Greeneville, TN 37745.
