Paul L. Simpson, 76, of Lone Star Road, Kingsport, went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, September 19, 2007, after a courageous battle with cancer.
He was born October 13, 1930, to the late Wilford and Iona Simpson. Paul was a born-again Christian, attended Sullivan Baptist Church, and retired from Holston Defense Corporation.
Preceding him in death were his daughter, Sharon Diane Patterson; a brother, Donald G. Simpson; a niece, Kristen Myers; and a sister-in-law, Barbara Simpson.
Surviving are his wife of 54 years, Dorothy Sellers Simpson; a son-in-law, Wayne D. Patterson; granddaughters, Ashley and Amanda Patterson; a sister, Ofa Hicks; brothers and sister-in-law, Toy E. and Karen Simpson, Ivy Simpson; sister-in-law, Louise Simpson; and several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Friday at Hamlett-Dobson Funeral Homes, Kingsport.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home with Rev. Jeff Strong and Rev. Orville Dolen officiating. Burial will follow at East Lawn Memorial Park.
Pallbearers will be Wayne Simpson, Scotty Simpson, Tony Simpson, Jeremiah Simpson, Gary Cavin, and Ed Brown.
