Paul Starnes

Paul James Starnes, 64, of Kingsport, went to be with the Lord on Wednesday June 17, 2009 at Holston Valley Medical Center unexpectedly.

He was a lifelong resident of Kingsport. He loved to play basketball, fish, and work on cars. He was also a loving father and grandfather.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Joe and Bertha Housewright Starnes.

He is survived by the mother of his children, Darlene Starnes; sons, James Starnes and David Starnes; grandsons, Christopher Starnes and Daniel Starnes; brothers, Roy H. Starnes, Dewey Starnes and wife, Nancy, and J. W. Starnes and wife, Brenda, all of Kingsport; several nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Saturday at Hamlett-Dobson Funeral Home, Kingsport.

A funeral service will follow at 7 p.m. in the funeral home chapel with Pastor Wayne Baker officiating.

A graveside service will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. Sunday at Old Kingsport Presbyterian Church Cemetery.
