Paul S. Ward, 76, of Colonial Heights, died Wednesday morning, April 11th, 2012, at Wellmont Holston Valley Medical Center. Born in Sullivan County, he had lived in this area most of his life. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Army, having retired as staff sergeant after 28 years of service. Paul retired from Eastman Kodak after 27 years of service. He worked with the Church Hill Rescue Squad for many years and was a member of Cedar Creek Baptist Church. Paul loved trading and antiquing.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Sherman and Grace Ward, son, Paul Ward, Jr., daughter, Angela Ward and brother, Hubert Ward.
Paul is survived by his wife, Mary Ward; daughters, Cindy Wilcock and Carol Barney both of Richfield, Utah, and Cathy Kelly of Kingsport; nine grandchildren; eleven great-grandchildren; two sisters, Mary Davis and husband George, and Nancy Starnes and husband Dewey, all of Kingsport; and several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends on Sunday, April 15th from 2-4:00 pm at Hamlett-Dobson, Kingsport. Funeral services will follow at 4:00 pm with Rev. Clarence Bear officiating.
Graveside services will be conducted on Monday, April 16th at 1:00 pm at Mountain Home National Cemetery. Military rites will be conducted by American Legion Posts 3/265.
