Paul Willis

Paul Willis, 80, of Kingsport, died Sunday 7-11-10 at his home after an apparent heart attack. Born in Kyles Ford, he had resided in Kingsport since 1948.

Paul had managed Handy's restaurants in Kingsport, and he had also owned and operated the Ole Timer Steak House in Johnson City. Additionally, he managed the diners in Giant Food Markets, and he was owner/operator of Sid's Restaurant in Kingsport.

He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict.

Paul was a founding member of Family Life Center Church in Kingsport.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 45 years, Nell Willis; his sister, Eula Tankersley, and a brother, Charles B. Willis.

Survivors include his son and daughter-in-law, Mark and Linda Jo Willis of Kingsport; three grandchildren, Bailey, Michael Paul, and Olivia Willisa€"all of Kingsport; a brother, James Willis of Greeneville; a special niece, Kelly Street of Jonesborough; special friends, Mike and Faye Bailey of Kingsport; and several nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends from 6 - 8 p.m. Wednesday 7-14-10 at Hamlett-Dobson Funeral Homes, Kingsport, or anytime at the home of the son. Funeral services will be held at 8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home with Rev. Mark Willis officiating.

Military graveside services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at East Lawn Memorial Park with Rev. Greg Street officiating and American Legion Post #3/265. Pallbearers will be Porter Bailey, David Street, Brad Grindstaff, Landon Grindstaff, Michael Paul Willis, Chris Smith, Duane Hickman, and Nick Hickman.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Family Life Center Church, 6317 Booth Court, Kingsport, TN 37663.
