Paula Ann Strickler

With profound sorrow, we announce the passing of Paula Strickler, a beloved wife, sister, and aunt, who left this world on October 10th after a courageous battle with cancer. Just as she journeyed to the heavens, the northern lights lit up the sky, as if the immense love and compassion she held in her heart painted the night one final time for all to see.

Paula was married to her sweetheart, Steve, and together they had recently celebrated 49 years of devoted marriage. Their bond was a testament to enduring love, which shone brightly in everything she did. A woman of rare kindness and humility, Paula found her greatest joys in nurturing her beloved plants, animals, and the family she cherished so deeply. Her love for her nieces, nephews, and great-nieces and nephews was boundless—she never missed an opportunity to shower them with affection and care.

An avid reader, Paula found comfort in her books and in the companionship of her late friends, Bubbles, Brandy, and Shirley. Her radiant smile, which could fill any room with warmth, was a reflection of the gentle soul she was. She extended that same gentleness to everyone she encountered, leaving a lasting impression of love and peace.

Paula dedicated 41 years of service as a secretary at Holston Valley Medical Hospital, where her compassion touched the lives of countless patients. She adored her younger brother, Jeff, with whom she shared a close and special bond, and was known as the best big sister anyone could ever have.

Though her time with us has come to a close, the love she gave to the world lingers, as vibrant and beautiful as the lights that marked her passing. In every act of kindness, every gentle touch, Paula’s spirit will continue to live on. Her compassion and light will never fade. She will be remembered, always, as a gentle force of love in this world.

Paula was preceded in death by her parents Judge B. Johnson and Mildred (Wheat). Surviving are her husband, Steve Strickler; brother, Jeff Johnson; brothers and sisters-in-law Ross Strickler and wife Brenda, David Strickler and wife Vicki, Dan Strickler and wife Tracy; and many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.

A service to honor Paula’s life will be held on October 18th at Kendrick’s Creek United Methodist Church located at 1000 Kendrick Creek Rd Kingsport, TN 37663. Visitation hours will be from 12-1 PM. The service will begin at 1 PM with Rev. Ray Amos officiating. Graveside services will follow directly after in Hamlett-Dobson Memorial Park.
