Pearl Mays Burke, 98, Kingsport died Saturday, September 22, 2007 at her home.
She was born September 21, 1909 in Russell County, VA, the daughter of the late David and Valeria Mays. Pearl came to Kingsport in 1950 and worked as a Practical Nurse at Holston Valley Medical Center for many years.
She was preceded in death by five brothers, Johnny, Will, Walter, Henry, and Jim Mays; one sister, Victoria Powers; one niece; and several nephews.
Pearl is survived by one son, Paul Burke and wife, Ruth of Kingsport; one granddaughter, Sharon Kaye Herr and husband, Fred, of Kingsport; one great-grandson, Joey Herr; one great-granddaughter, Laura Herr; one brother, Claude Mays of Russell County, VA; one sister, Emma Kate Francisco of Roanoke; two nieces, Irene Arnold and Margaret Hall, both of Castlewood, VA; and three nephews, Russell Powers, Gate City, VA, Mike Francisco, and Jim Francisco, both of Roanoke, VA.
Calling hours are from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Monday at Hamlett-Dobson Funeral Home, Kingsport.
Services will be conducted at 1 p.m. Monday at the funeral home with Brother Henry Wayne Mead officiating.
Burial will follow at Oak Hill Memorial Park.
Pallbearers will be Joey Herr, Michael Francisco, Paul Burton, Harold Salyer, Ronald Salyer, and Tommy Salyer.
