Pearl Gilliam Forbes, 79, of Kingsport, passed away Sunday, July 27, 2008 at the Christian Care Center of Johnson City.

She had lived in Kingsport for the past 75 years. Pearl formerly worked at Roses Luncheonette, later owned the Fountain Bleu Restaurant, and had been a member of Power Point Ministries for more than 60 years formerly Assembly of the Lord Jesus Christ, Highland. She was affectionately known as the "caregiver" within the family.

Preceding her in death were her husband, Lewis Forbes; her parents, Haburn and Louise Gilliam; two brothers, Oscar "Buzz" Gilliam of Johnson City, Arthur Gilliam of Kingsport; and one sister, Hazel Ryans of Kingsport.

Surviving are one daughter, Judy Forbes Alaniz of Kingsport; a son, Gary L. Forbes and wife Alma of Weaverville, NC; four grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; four brothers, Garland Gilliam of Savannah, TN, Ralph Gilliam of Somerset, KY, Linnie Gilliam of Gray, TN, Mack Gilliam of Kingsport, TN; and two sisters, Shirley Waycaster of Johnson City, and JoAnn Compton of Kingsport.

The family will receive friends Wednesday from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Hamlett-Dobson Funeral Homes, Kingsport.

Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home with Bishop Jack Forbes officiating. Burial will follow at Oak Hill Memorial Park.
