Pearl Roberts Johnson, 90, of Kingsport, passed away Friday, July 20, 2007 at Holston Valley Medical Center.
A native of Lee County, VA, she lived in Blackwater until moving to Kingsport, TN in 1933. She was a former employee of Eastman Chemical Company.
Mrs. Johnson was a member of Pleasant View Baptist Church for 64 years and was active in the church choir as well as in the Holston Valley Auxiliary.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Cleveland and Flora Roberts; husband, Ben H. Johnson; one brother; Henry Roberts; five sisters; Maudie Munsey, Alpha Livesay, Janie Livesay, Allie Christian, Mary Dickenson, son, Dr. Norman G. Johnson; and grandson, Marc Johnson.
Survivors include her brother, Charles Roberts of North Carolina; son, Larry D. Johnson of Nashville, TN; grandchildren, Gary Johnson of Birmingham, AL and Rebecca Johnson of Atlanta, GA; sisters-in-law, Dorothy Johnson of Kingsport and Ruth Johnson of Kingsport; daughters-in-law, Rita Johnson of Nashville, TN and Carolyn Johnson of Birmingham, AL; and several nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. Sunday, July 22, 2007 at Pleasant View Baptist Church with a service following to be conducted at 7 p.m. with Pastor Wayne Baker and Evangelist Pat Hammond officiating.
Burial will be in Oak Hill Memorial Park on Monday, July 23, 2007 at 10 a.m.
Her nephew and great-nephews will serve as pallbearers and Pleasant View Baptist Church Deacons will serve as honorary pallbearers.
