Pearl Jennings Price, 91, of the Bloomingdale Community, went to be with the Lord Sunday morning October 25, 2009.
She was born in Ft. Blackmore, VA and had resided in Kingsport most of her life. Pearl was a graduate from Sullivan High School. She was a member of Vermont United Methodist Church where she taught Sunday school and sang in the choir for many years and was a member of the UMW. She loved flowers and visiting with her friends and family. Pearl was active in the schools thru PTA. She was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and sister.
Preceded in death by her husband, John Stanley Price; parents, Robert Walker and Nevada McClellan Jennings; and brother, Hanzel Jennings.
She is survived by her daughter, Sammie Chesser and husband Sam, Kodak, TN; two sons, Philip Price and wife Minola, of Kingsport and Michael Price and wife Loretta, of Blaine, TN; four sisters, Odell Bledsoe, of Gate City, VA, Della Harrell, of Kingsport, Emogene Linkous, of Kingsport, and Barbara Quillen and husband Glenn, of Kingsport; two brothers, Claude Jennings and wife Rosie, of Ohio, and Pat Jennings and wife Mary, of Ohio; six grandchildren, Gary Price and wife Kathy, Larry Price and wife Lisa, Mitchum Price and wife Tracie, John Price and wife Julia, Andy Price and wife Leslie, Erin Evans and husband Mark; nine great-grandchildren, Jacob Price, Dusty Price and wife Anya, Amiee Price, Dylan Price, Derek Price, Dalton Price, Chloe Price, Madelyn Price, and Samantha Evans; two step-grandchildren, Chris Chesser and Scott Chesser and wife Tracy; four step-great-grandchildren, Isabella, Lori, Clay, and Alex Chesser; special friends Madge and Kathy Hudson; and several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends Tuesday from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Vermont United Methodist Church also anytime at the home of the son, Philip Price. Services will be at 8:00 p.m. with Rev. Danny Hensley, Rev. Homer Roller, and Rev. Dr. Steve Galyon officiating.
Graveside services will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday at Oak Hill Memorial Park.
Grandchildren will serve as pallbearers. Great-grandchildren will serve as honorary pallbearers.
