Pearlie E. Summie, 92, of Gray, went to be with the Lord and loved ones that had gone on before her on Tuesday, November 17, 2009. Pearlie was the oldest member of Greenvale Baptist Church.
She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, great-great-grandmother, sister, aunt and friend to many. The most important thing to her was having her family together here and afterwards.
Pearlie was preceded in death by her husband, Orville Summie; two sons, Gearl Summie and Billy J. Summie; and two daughters, Sharon Shaw Townsend and Joyce Tipton Trepanosky.
She is survived by her daughter, Teresa Dixon and husband Deril of Kentucky; daughter-in-law, Charlotte Summie of Jonesborough; three sons, Jimmie Summie and wife Shelby, Bobby Summie and wife Dottie, and David "Punk" Summie and wife Diana, all of Jonesborough; sixteen grandchildren; twenty-five great-grandchildren; and six great-great-grandchildren; two sisters, Lillian Shaw of Jonesborough and Arnie Bare of Kingsport; two brothers, Ray Begley and Ralph Begley, both of Dungannon, VA; and several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends on Friday from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Greenvale Baptist Church. A funeral service will follow at 8:00 p.m. with Rev. Paul Manis , Rev. Bill Ponder, Pastor Don Hilton and Rev. Jon Reed officiating.
Burial will be on Saturday at 11:00 a.m. at Sulphur Springs Cemetery. Grandsons will serve as pallbearers.
