Peggy Shell Edwards

Peggy Shell Edwards, 62, of Kingsport, passed away early Wednesday morning, March 12, 2008 at Johnson City Medical Center after a courageous battle with cancer.

She was born in Pennington Gap, VA where she graduated from Pennington Gap High School. Peggy had resided in Kingsport since 1964 and graduated from Whitney Business College in 1965.

She was a member of Calvary Baptist Church in Kingsport. Peggy was a devoted wife, wonderful loving mother and grandmother "Ginny".

Preceding her in death were her father, John Shell; mother, Hazel Shell Lamar; sister, Barbara Shell; and brother, Bill Shell.

She is survived by her husband of 43 years, Ron Edwards; daughter, Melissa Edwards Mayse and husband Scott of Winter Springs, FL; son, Jason Edwards and wife Tina of Maryville, TN; five grandchildren, Rachel Mayse, Preston Mayse, Jamison Mayse, Jada Edwards, and Keith Ivens; and numerous friends.

The family would like to thank Dr. Drake, Dr. Lamb, Dr. Holmes, and the Oncology nursing staff at Johnson City Medical Center.

Calling hours are from 5 to 7 p.m. Saturday at Hamlett-Dobson Funeral Homes, Kingsport. Services will follow at 7 p.m. at the funeral home with Rev. T. Richard Harris and Rev. Tiger Brooks officiating. Music will be provided by Paige Brooks.

Graveside services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Sunday at Cecil Frye Cemetery in Pennington Gap, VA. Family and friends will meet at the cemetery at 1:45 p.m. Sunday.
